Sustainability

HealthTrust Europe is committed in working to improve sustainable procurement practice.

Sustainable Procurement is defined as 'the process whereby organisations meet their needs for goods, services, works and utilities in a way that achieves value for money on a whole-life basis in terms of generating benefits not only to the organisation, but also to society and the economy, whilst minimising damage to the environment'

Sustainable Procurement is be a primary consideration for anyone involved in purchasing because it makes economic, social and environmental sense. With a little thought it is possible, for example, to maximise the opportunity forlocal suppliers to compete for NHS contracts and so reduce mileage, make greater use of electronic transfers to reducethe volume of paper transactions, purchase more finished products from renewable sources and encouraging our suppliers to be more innovative.
