HealthTrust Europe Launch Graduate Programme

HealthTrust Europe has launched its first ever Graduate Scheme, providing newly qualified graduates with a fantastic opportunity to put theory into practise and develop their skillset in a leading Healthcare procurement organisation.

The new scheme has begun with two Procurement roles being filled, and a secondary assessment programme is already underway to fill a Supply Chain role. Before moving into their roles as Trainee Buyers the initial two graduates will spend time in a number of other business areas to allow them to get a broad understanding of how the business works and how each department fits together. With this understanding when they move into their Trainee Buyer roles they will have a broad business perspective so that they can make more informed, business outcome focused decisions.

The graduates will spend time working through all stages of strategic sourcing and on a range of tasks from the tactical and administrative, to the strategic and innovative. They will be involved in all elements of sourcing from the conception of product ideas through to the delivery of agreements providing sustainable value to our customers.

“I am delighted to welcome our first intake of graduates into the procurement team. This marks the next step in our evolution as we develop and foster our own talent to meet the needs of the business and our customers. We are all looking forward to working with them and will be providing them with the necessary professional training to support them in their roles” Richard Cerutti, Chief Procurement Officer at HealthTrust Europe.

HealthTrust Europe’s Nursing and Care Services Framework Approved by Monitor

We are pleased to announce that the HealthTrust Europe (HTE) framework agreement for Nursing and Care services has passed the approval process set out by Monitor, the NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) and the Department of Health (DoH) within the recent project on Agency Staffing controls. HTE received a special commendation within the communication for our work to go above and beyond the outlined requirements on pay rates and control processes, which demonstrates that we continue to strive to be the standout framework to the NHS and deliver best value within difficult market conditions.

Whether the local issue is off framework spend, engaging the supply chain or achieving best value, we have the experience and expertise to support Trusts in gaining control of the market and working in harmony with the local health economy.

From 19th October, Trusts are required to comply with the new nursing agency rules and source nursing agency staff via an approved framework such as the HTE Nursing & Care Services framework.

Please contact our Customer Care Team for further information and a copy of our framework brief on 0845 887 5000 or by emailing customercare@htepg.com

As part of our continuous improvement programme, we welcome all Trusts to engage with HTE to review how we can best support the NHS in delivering the requirements from Monitor.

We thank all of our customers and awarded suppliers for their continued support and efforts to make the project a success.

Supporting the NHS to Deliver Savings on Agency Staff Spend

HealthTrust Europe offers framework agreements for Temporary Agency Staffing, which typically deliver initial savings between 5 – 10% for Trusts transitioning onto them.

The HTE framework agreements include Nursing & Care, Medical Locums & GPs, Allied Health Professionals & Health Science Services and Non-Clinical, which have been procured in line with the Public Contracts Regulations 2006. These provide a fully compliant route to market for Trusts wishing to contract with Temporary Staffing Agencies (Employment Businesses).

Following the recent communication by the Department of Health, Monitor, NHSE and TDA, HealthTrust Europe is liaising with the relevant bodies, our framework providers and customers to further understand the impact of the proposed changes to agency staffing, in order to ensure our framework agreements continue to be fit for purpose whilst meeting the relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines issued.

As part of our Free-to-Access framework offering, customers benefit from the expertise of our agency team, who are responsible for defined areas of spend and provide a tailored approach. They work closely with customers and suppliers to maximise the level of knowledge, support and guidance to achieve compliance, fill and reportable savings bespoke to the category.

We offer customers contracting and mediation support to identify and achieve hard and soft savings opportunities. These can include structuring agency supply chains, unifying locum pay rates, setting sustainable commissions, supplier performance management, applying best practice, and forward planning.

Through engaging our customers pro-actively, we have a greater level of success in maintaining fill rates whilst generating increased controls for hospitals and greater accountability on suppliers to provide a high quality service.

We understand the requirements within the NHS to have correct staffing levels in place to ensure patient safety is maintained. We can therefore work with Trusts to ensure they are sourcing within a compliant framework agreement whilst ensuring patient safety is not put at risk. We look forward to continuing to work with those Trusts who already benefit from the use of the HealthTrust Europe framework agreements, and welcoming those who would like to work with us.

Further information on the new financial controls for agency staffing can be found on the government website
